it’s definitely GREY around here today

Before I even go on, watch this video–it is the most wonderful mom-related thing I have seen in a LONG time…

So here are the really important things happening in this house since I have last popped in, about a decade a go…sorry everyone!

1.   My mom has returned to Savannah….*long sigh* and I have nothing left to do but count the days until she comes back for Christmas.  Jane has been waking in the morning, sees that my mom is not in the bed next to her, and asks, "Grammy awake?"  She talked to my mom on the phone yesterday and when my mom told her that she missed her, Jane replied, "miss you too, grammy."  Hello, little heartbreak.

2.  I saw WICKED last week with my mom–oh. My. God.  It was so good.  I neeeeeeeed to see it again.  I wept through the whole thing (I have been waiting to see it for a l o n g time) and it was perfect, all but for the total nutjob who was sitting next to me, singing along (yes, singing) and dancing in her seat.  I had to hold my hand up to the side of my eye for most of the first act because seeing her bop all over the place was completely distracting.  So we moved to a couple of empty seats at the end of the row for the second act.  It was just so so so so good!!!

3.  Jane is talking in short little sentences.  "shoes off, mommy?"  "baby out!" "no shower, mammy [Sammy]. tubby!" (did I mention she is bossy?)  The last few days she has been responding to everything I say with, "Hopey too?"  like, "Naptime, Jane." "Yeah! Hopey too?"  and my favorite, "jane, do you have a poopy diaper?" "Noooo.  Hopey too."  She is seeming so kid-like all of a sudden….not sure I am ready for this…

4.  Sam is doing great in school–he is riding the bus like a champ, no more tears in the morning.  We are starting to hear about what is happening in school, a little boy got in trouble yesterday for making faces at the teacher, and everyone had to sit still with their hands crossed.  So says Sam.  Though he DID think that the face the boy made was funny…oh boy.  And the songs are really coming, my current favorite is about a chickadee: "Chick-er-lee, chick-er-lee, happy and gay" is the line he songs over and over.  I am not sure what I really want to know about the personal life of this little chickerlee…

5.  Last Sunday I managed to get the new rug laid down in the playroom (thanks, mom) aaaaaand, I sewed a new curtain to replace the light-blocking shade in the bathroom.  It consisted of sewing 4 seams, but it looks great and lets lots of light in, and it is incredibly satisfying…I am not contemplating sewing the kids’ halloween costumes…

6.  Working hard on editing photos from the past few weeks…have lots to do….

7.  TV premiere week is happening, and I am LOVING it all so far.  Law & order SVU was great, I loved Private Practice, but my REAL fave has to be Dirty Sexy Money.  Oh my heck it was funny.  But everyone knows what this week is really all about….oh yeah, Grey’s anatomy….wooooooooo hoooooooooo!  So don’t try to reach me between 8-10 tonight, I’ll be watching the Office and Grey’s…..

8.  I feel like there is more, and I am sure it will come to me…but until then, HAPPY THURSDAY!
