Jen + Melissa {married}

Jen and Melissa were married in September on Nantucket.  if you’ve never been there, Nantucket is one of the most beautiful places on earth, quiet and friendly, the epitome of Cape Cod beauty.  And though I would never have thought it possible, Jen and Melissa made it even more incredible.  Their wedding was truly an event–it started on Thursday night with a lobster bake on the beach and ended with brunch on Sunday. Rebecca and I arrived on Friday, in time for the meet and greet at Cisco Breweries, a trifecta of awesomeness; a brewery, a winery, and a distillery, with a common courtyard.  Hello. Lots of the guests were arriving straight from golf, and others (like us) from our inns on the island.  The atmosphere was relaxed and excited and SO MUCH FUN.  You know it’s a good wedding when the photographers are having as much fun as the guests…

A little back story (and the reason I am IN so many of these photos) is that Jen is my cousin!  I wasn’t initially their photographer, but due to some crazy circumstances I was lucky enough to be able to do it in the end!  It is SO fun to be the photographer at a wedding where you know SO many people there…

This post is SO photo heavy that I am going to try not to comment too TOO much…Just enjoy the incomparable Jen and Melissa!

(edited to add–please excuse some of the random text watermarks…just a little glitch!)

D’ACK and Stormy….DEEEE-LICIOUS.  Wish I had one right now….

You photogs out there will understand this…you know when you witness a moment, and you point your camera up, KNOW you have the focus and exposure right and you get that swirly feeling of  ”YES.  I GOT IT.”  That’s what happened below…its my fave from this night…

Morrisons!

The morning of the wedding dawned clear and beautiful.  This is Whale’s Watch, on the other side of the island, away from town.  Jen and Melissa and their closest friends and family stayed in these three (there is one more house hiding back there) houses, and the immense tent was set up right in the middle.  PERFECT!  Jen got ready in one house, and Melissa got ready in another.  We met on the lawn for a first look before dashing off for some pre-ceremony romantics…

FAVORITE DRESS SHOT EVER.  EVER.  Did I say EVER??

Dawn from Soiree Floral made these insane bouquets….are they not the most amazing things?? Hello, feathers….

Dear Jen and Melissa….THIS is the perfect photo to be a big fat canvas on your wall….just sayin’.

I have neer referred to a photo of a bride and her bridesmaids as ‘bad-ass”, but this next one is pretty bad-ass, if I do say so myself.

Hello, Gorgeous lady!!

This has to be my favorite image from the day…can’t you feel how excited they are?

Two words for you:  Stoli Doli. ‘Nuf said.

Jen and Melissa wanted the inside of the tent to feel more like a New York club than a beachy wedding…. DONE AND DONE.  I have never seen anything like this before….the tent was literally dripping with Swarovski crystals…

Filet Mignon, Tuckernuck lobster tails and Whale’s Tale to take home….perfect.

This party was AMAZING….

Melissa and Jen, I am so completely thrilled that circustances whilrled around to get me and my camera to your wedding.  It was absolutely unforgettable, and Rebecca and I truly had the most wonderful time!  It was an honor to have been able to be such an integral part of your day, and I hope with all of my heart that you love these photos as much as I do!  Now let’s talk about another get together, and SOON.

Here I am, like I’m running for mayor, just kissing babies at every chance… (This is my sweet little cousin Mason!  He thinks I am very funny.)

Rebecca and I getting ready for dinner and MORE dark and stormys after the meet and greet.  I LOVE being a wedding photographer, and when I get to shoot with my sister, it is even more awesome.  Awesomer.  The awesomest?  Whatever.  It rocks.

My darling cousin Mark… my father adored him (actually, everyone adores him.) and he was the one who walked me down the aisle when I got married…and this summer I have the incredible honor of photographing his daughter’s wedding in San Francisco.  Love you, Maaaahk!!  (We Morrisons are from Boston.  You have to say it like that.)

Joanne West - Well, look at all the talent on you, Miss Lady! Wow! I happened by, link to link, as I was on Facebook trying to figure out how to post on the walls of two friends in one swoop… started looking at the little boxes entitled “People You May Know”… There was Jen, whom I actually DO know (as she frequents someplace I work) and in clicking thru to see if she’d posted any wedding photos, found myself here. What fortune! as the light and life beaming through in your lovely work surely put a big smile on my face. Bravissimo!
