Sam brought home a beautiful masterpiece of marker on construction paper, with a beautiful rendering of planet Earth (including Madagascar, his favorite place to talk about, and he knows exactly where it is. He even labeled it on the picture.) and the words "Earth Day" on the top. We flipped it over to find a lovely little butterfly, a heart that had the words "I love you" in it and the letters SCKUY.
TK and I were obviously clueless and asked what sckuy meant.
"Mooooom, Daaaaaad, [in a most exasperated tone] it's my name."
"It is??"
"S for Sam, C for Charles, K for Kristiansen, U for SamUel, and Y for SammY."
Of course. How could we have missed that??

Lori - Okay — I have no idea what to say to that except at least he didn’t say S for Sam U for samUel etc.
Way to go Sam on the earth day celebrations!
Auntie Beck - Oh my God. Well, I would have gotten that. I mean, I guess you have to be a Madagascar enthusiast to understand, but really, it’s in the fine print. That boy is a sensitive genius who just may go on to save the world that he so aptly rendered in marker.
Kim - why are we, as parents, sooooo dumb?
Suzanne E. Morrison - My grandson! I just hung his rendering of mom and dad holding hands in kitchen with refrig in right place, stairs going to 2nd floor and each child standing in proper bedroom doorway. I was impressed with the perspective, I guess. Oh, Sammy, I hope you do some good for our world. You and Barack! Grams
